Have you ever been abruptly interrupted during a sultry daydream in a compromising position with your favorite pop or movie star? Are your dreams glaringly better than the reality you call your sex life?

If you have, I am guessing that you understand that the gap between what you want and what you are experiencing, exists. So, how do we shift our lives from our best fantasies to our best realities?

Do you ever think about the “BIG WHY”? Knowing why it is important to create a great sex life might provide some motivation to help you pursue solutions!

Let’s take a look at five reasons why an active sex life is beneficial!

Reason #1: Sexual Intercourse Relieves Stress. Sexual intercourse relieves stress by producing oxytocin which not only increases emotional connection, it also promotes a sense of calm and well-being, and reduces the effects of stress. 1

Reason #2: Healthier Life. “Sexually active people take fewer sick days,” says Dr. Yvonne Fulbright. People who have sex have greater resistance to germs, viruses, and other intruders. 2

Reason #3: Helps Control Bladder. Sex also improves women’s bladder control by building a strong pelvic floor. Sex is a workout for those muscles!2

Reason #4: Improves Sleep. Improves Sleep due to the release of a hormone called, prolactin, being released after orgasm. 2

Reason #5: Reduces Levels of Pain. Sex elicits feel-good chemicals triggered by reflecting on loving thoughts. Similar effects come from hugs, professional massage, petting your cat, or mindfully applying lotion to your hands, face, neck, and body.3

As you can see, SEX is GOOD for us!

Now that you are aware of just how hot your daydreams are and you, indeed, desire a great life, the second step is understanding WHY it is so important to have a good sex life. It is inevitable that we are not going to be in the mood, feel unattractive, and/or a myriad of other excuses that we use to ourselves and our partners, sometimes. However, if you find your mind’s STOP button is blinking inconveniently and stopping you from the life you want, we need to solve that problem. Just like a mind may say STOP, it can also blink green and say GO!

Your sexual transformation begins when you realize that the shift comes from inside YOUR mind. You have the power to create the sexy relationship that YOU desire! You are in charge of the energy in YOUR relationship.

In the next couple weeks, write down the details of the situations or feelings that STOP you from experiencing the sex life YOU want. Start understanding where YOU are coming from. Imagine an exciting life where YOU have control and create the life that YOU dream about. Let’s make those dreams come true!
